!Sim Stories!

Hello and welcome to Sim Stories! This is a branch of dewparchive where I write about my sims' lives. I love making complex stories in the Sims and have always wanted to write them down so why not have my own website about them? I also love playing challenges made by other simmers as well as writing my own! Check out the different sections down there.

Challanges I've wrote

Here's a little bit more about my Simming life. :) I started my Sims journey waaay back in 2012, on Valentine's Day to be exact! I got the Sims 3 and I was completely over the moon. I watched all the classic Simmers on Youtube as a wee lad so I was ecstatic to finally be able to play myself. I would save my allowance to get the expansion packs from my local Target every couple of weeks. Ahhhhhh that was the dream, that's where it all started! I now have 11000+ hours in all the games together ;D

Now let's get into my opinions of the main games in order of best to worst! Minus the 1st game since I haven't personally played. (yet!)

The Sims 3: Ok.... I may be a bit biased since this was MY first ever game but, god the charm this game has is unbelievable! I know a lot of people aren't fond of how the sims look in this game but I adore them so much. Maybe they're a bit potatoed faced but the customization is great! I honestly love the sliders, they really helped me make unique personal sims when I really wasn't that good at CAS. I also loved how crazy you could get with hair colors too. I loved dying my sims hair, I loved giving them highlights, I just loved it all. Obviously, like many others, I LOVE create a style!!!!!!!! I love it so much, it's such a dream. Even when it can be a bit overwhelming, it's magical with the limited build buy (I'll talk more about that soon.) Being able to have so many patterns and unlimited colors is so powerful. I also loved being able to 'preview' the home you wanted before you actually bought it. It really pisses me off how hard it is to get a good grasp on what a house looks like in the Sims 4, like come on! Another thing I love, as well as everyone else, is the open world! No matter what issues it may cause I would take it over loading screens. Plus rabbit holes really aren't an issue with me. I find that the sims gets boring for me fast when I don't have them go out and do things with their lives. Having an open world makes that soooo much easier because I can just look at the map whenever I want! Let's stop at the bookstore after work before we come home. It's just so awesome. The expansion packs are so random and so expansive too. I really enjoy how big and immersive they all are and all the little random things they add-in. I miss unicorns in the sims games so much, I would stop any gameplay for them when I was younger < / 3

Let's move on to the things I don't like..... The limited CAS and build buy makes me so sad. The base game CAS is so depressing, my jaw drops whenever I play without the expansion packs. Have you ever tried to decorate in the Sims 3? It's horrible. The rugs might be the worst part and I LOVE adding rugs. I also wish so badly that we had better afro-textured hair in CAS. I mean it's really embarrassing and I wish I didn't have to play with CC. Thank god for CC though, am I right? My least favorite part of the Sims 3 though is probably the Sims 3 store. GOD WHY MICRO TRANSACTIONS!???!?!! $20 for a world?? really???? So bad and no wonder we had nothing in the base game.

The Sims 2: My SECOND favorite game, The Sims TWO. hahahaha.... :p Anyway, The Sims 2 truly is an amazing game! Especially considering how they lost almost everything shortly before realease! The Sims 2 isn't even comparable to The Sims 1, it's a whole different game. It's the only game with realistic physics too, like the hair and the water in pools. The small things is what the sims 2 is all about truly and let me tell you, those things add so much depth! Having to buy clothes, grocerys, getting things out of drawers, personallity effecting how they act, turn ons/turn offs, compatiblyity, etc etc. Kids getting excited to see their parents come home from work, I'm literally going to cry. IT'S SO SWEET. I'm in love with things like that. Again, I really enjoy the sliders in create a sim. You can make a lot of unquie sims and I always having fun! I really like the overall art style and clothing/item style in this game as well. It's just so very charming. The wants and fears are incredible! I love the whole system and, again, how your sims personality really effects it! YOUR SIMS JUST HAVE SO MUCH PERSONALITY! They're also so funny! I love how funny the sims 2 is with how your sims move around to the sound effects. I always have a smile on my face while playing. WHich reminds me of the cut scenes. God why would they ever stop doing cut scenes! It truly adds so much to your game and they're all so well done. Just like the lore, the lore is great. The premade households are so much fun with their pre set up events, probably one of the greatest things about the game. I feel like it lets so many more players enjoy when they maybe have a hard time coming up with stories themselves. And you can do all of them since each household has it's own set time!

Now for the cons..... I would be lying if I said this game doesn't have problems. Because it has a lotttt of problems and everyone knows it. The currption to the pink flashing textures, it makes you uneasy to play! I'm appretitive they fixed a lot of it but of course it's still unstable. But let's talk about purposful things I dislike about the game. Note: I have not played the sims 2 NEARLY as long as any of the other games so I'm still a noob in a lot of ways. The lack of everything in CAS kills me... The skin, eyes, hair, clothing, everything. It's painful. Even though I enjoy having to buy new clothes for my sims I hate that I can't easily go but to CAS after I've made them. Build buy is a major improvement in this game but I still wish we could play on half tiles, I always forget about that. I also dislike that time on communtiy lots is different from your own lot, it really confuses me honsetly. Same thing with not being able to grab 1 serving from a bowl like why not!? Unless I'm doing something wrong....

The Sims 4: Now in last, The Sims 4. Are we really that surprised? I complain about this game A LOT but I do really like it and think it could've been the best sims game. CAS is AMAZING, especially since the skin tone update. I really do love how you can pull and drag features, The variety of hair and clothes is outsounding especially compared to the other games. Build buy too! I lovveeee the level of placement you can get, the half tiles, moveobjects. They did aa great job making it so much more user-friendly, I actually feel like I can build! and roof! The number of interactions too, much much MUCH more than any other game. The interactions with babies/toddlers are much more expanded and I really like that since I'm a generational player. I'm pretty sure the play interaction with toddlers is my favorite interaction of the whole game. I still remember when they added it and I was so amazed. ahhhh good times. I genuinely love infants too I hope they're a permanent new life stage in the games from this point forward! I would love preteens too but that's not everyone's jam. Another thing I enjoy in the sims 4 are how many animals we have now, specifically the farm animals. That was always my dream in the other games!

There are a LOT of things I dislike about The Sims 4..... Most of it relating to how surface-level everything is. It's really hard to feel connected to a sim with 3 traits and a life goal that takes only a week to complete. I also find it difficult to want to leave the home lot which makes the game incredibly boring. You really have to use your imagination more which is fine but it makes it harder for people who don't like playing that way. The traits we do have honestly suck too which is horrible. That's the main part of the game! I hate when they add traits that are pack-specific too, you can only use them if you're playing inexcusably that pack! Like please add more versatile traits! I will say I like most of the traits that came with For Rent, I want more of that. The packs are honestly a joke compared to past games. They hardly come with the same amount of things as previous games. For example: Horse Ranch and Sims 3 Pets. Pets adds horses, cats, dogs, birds, and rodents. Horse Ranch adds horses and goats, which is cool! but not the same. You need another $40 pack and another $10 pack to try and fill that void. That's $90! I wouldn't be as upset if they were more in-depth but guess what? Horse ranch horses are not as advanced as sims 3 horses! Why and how is this ok? Children can ride horses now which is nice but doesn't really make up for the missing features. Anyway, the point of this rant is that packs are just not the same and you have to pay much more just to TRY and get close to old packs. It worries me for the Sims 5 but that's a different conversation for another day. Not to mention most packs release with game-breaking bugs, it makes me so angry! How are you not going to smooth out all the wrinkles before taking people's money? Then add the "pre-order items" convincing more people to buy a broken pack. It's just horrible to me. The glitchiness of the Sims 4 live mode can really be unbearable. It feels like they don't care as much about live mode as they do about CAS and build buy. It's a life simulator, not a dress-up game or a building simulator. I LOVE that CAS and Build Buy have so much but I wish Live Mode had that same kind of love since that's the whole point. Sims walking through walls and objects, animations off-center, infants/toddlers being s difficult to care for, sims just not listening? All of these are so sad. Again, I think For Rent has been better (still had a horrible bug with it,) but for a while, I've felt like they've focused on live mode the least. Leading to more shallow gameplay. The simulation lag is also pretty unbearable. I could go on and on about the glitches but I'm hoping they'll all get fixed one day. Like I said earlier, I think the Sims 4 could easily be the best game out of all of them but the lack of depth and glitches is what kills it.

go back?
